Preliminary Edition. The Starter Pack is required to teach the course. It includes a Training Book and Assessment Book. The Training Book gives overall guidance for the course. The teacher should study the Training Book thoroughly before attempting to teach this course.

The Assessment Book includes a Phonological Awareness Assessment and a Letter and Sound Assessment. The Phonological Awareness Assessment tests a student’s ability to hear and manipulate individual sounds in words—the basis for reading and spelling skills. The Letter and Sound Assessment tests a student’s skills in connecting the sounds, their corresponding symbols and the rules to use them. These tests are essential for placing your student in the correct unit and can be photocopied.
