Henry and his family have fled from the terrors of communism in Russia to Germany. Now in the aftermath of World War II, with other Russian Mennonites, they live as refugees in Berlin. For now, they are safe. But the communist government refuses to allow them to travel through the Russian zone to safety and a ship headed for Paraguay, docked at a West German port.
