In America we can live an entire lifetime without seeing extreme poverty, real hunger, or dogs licking open wounds. With the needs out of sight, we forget the millions of Lazaruses in our world. It is easy to compare our lives to our affluent neighbors and make decisions based on our prosperous friends. But how would it affect our choices if extreme poverty were just outside our door? How close do we get to people with real needs?
