Death of a Saloon

Pablo Yoder

Teodolinda and her family moved to the Zapotal highlands of Costa Rica to find a better life. But instead of getting better, life became drastically worse. Alcohol and anger gripped their hearts until life became a cycle of drudgery, moonshining, and fighting. Frightened and disgusted with herself, Teodolinda decided to change. She hung religious symbols on the wall, lit candles to the saints, chanted prayers, and vowed to do better, but her family only slid deeper into sin. Amid this darkness Teodolinda discovered God and His power, against whom the gates of Hell could not prevail. A true story.
