Resources for Teaching Phonics Foundations 

Phonics Foundations helps dyslexic students succeed in reading and writing. This page includes resources for teachers so they can use the course effectively.

Instruction Card Videos

IC:1

The video for IC:1 demonstrates the procedure for the Visual Drill. It also demonstrates how to lay the Student Cards down after the Visual Drill using the dots on the card backs in preparation for the Blending Drill.

IC:2

The video for IC:2 demonstrates the procedure for the Auditory Drill. The teacher will need a copy of the Auditory Drill Chart with the student’s known phonemes marked for this drill. The student will need a tactile surface such as sandpaper or carpet.

IC:3

The video for IC:3 demonstrates the procedure for the Blending Drill. The video begins with the Student Cards laid on the table according to the dots on the card backs following the Visual Drill (IC:1). The video for IC:3 demonstrates how to flip the cards so they are ready for the student to blend the sounds in the Blending Drill.

The video for IC:5a demonstrates how to finger-tap for spelling dictation words and for decoding words as students read.

IC:5b

IC5:b demonstrates the same procedure as IC:5a for multi-syllabic words.
